It is mental health week and being a vet, I want to highlight our profession and mental health. Both our hard-working vets and vet nurses out there are 4 times more likely to take their own lives than the general population.

Sadly we are not immune to mental health and long hours and the stress of the job as well as most vets and nurses being perfectionists and people-pleasers makes them far more vulnerable when faced with a bad Google or Facebook review or an unhappy client or a case that goes badly.

Our own pets are our solace and escape from our stress with their unconditional love and need to be walked in the fresh air – good for all of us!

I do feel the mindfulness that eating a vegan diet offers full of such nutrient-rich food, is an ideal diet to keep not only our bodies but also our minds healthy and in balance.
