“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”
– Nelson Mandela
Possibly one of Nelson Mandela’s most powerful quotes as it is just so true. As we see advancements in vegan dog food progress at such a rapid rate with all the latest research pointing to it as being one of the healthiest diets for our dogs, there is still a misconception amongst vets that it carries risks.
It is only through educating both vets, vet nurses, and owners that changes can come about. We all need to remain open-minded and look to the health of not only our pets, but our planet too at such a crucial time. All the research done by both Prof Andrew Knight, and fascinating studies by Sarah Dodd on North American (Canada and US dogs) has shown that a well balanced vegan dog food diet is healthier for our dogs than a raw diet or meat-based commercial dog food diet.
On Monday 8th August at 8pm, there was the very first live vegan dog food panel discussion for vets and vet professionals, as well as any interested dog owners just wanting to learn more. The panel was made up of 2 vets supporting plant-based dog food nutrition, and a veterinary nurse who advises on pet nutrition for one of the large corporate veterinary groups providing some balance.
The expert panel included:
- Prof. Andrew Knight BSc, BVMS, CertAW, MANZCVS, DipECAWBM, DipACAW, PhD, FRCVS, SFHEA
- Dr. Arielle Griffiths BVSc, MRCVS
- Nicola Lakeman MSc, BSc(Hons), RVN, CertSAN, CertVNECC, VTS (Nutrition)
On a personal level, I enjoyed it so much as plant-based dog food is a topic I could talk about all day……and I finally got to meet Prof Andrew Knight ‘virtually’ – what a wonderful man he is!
“I must say that I really really enjoyed (and found helpful) the webinar the other day with you and Dr Knight. You were both so eloquent and knowledgeable. It gives me such hope for the future and for the growth in this particular market. Thank you so much.”

Why we made a supplement
The results we received from our pet nutritionist who analysed the results for us were astounding as so many nutrients were lacking or very low
