I just have thanks to offer our late Queen Elizabeth for the example that she set – leadership through kindness, strength through values and respect through hard work and dedication. I personally will miss her presence terribly, which makes the value of her words even more important as they will live on.
I share with you some of my favourite quotes of HRH Queen Elizabeth. The first is videod off our TV taken from home videos of the young ‘Lilibet’ so excuse the quality but I filmed it in a flood of tears as her words are just so poignant and beautiful!
“We sometimes think the world’s problems are so big that we can do little to help.
On our own, we cannot end wars or wipe out injustice.
But the cumulative impact of thousands of small acts of goodness, can be bigger than we imagine.”

On being an inspiration
‘To be inspirational you don’t have to save lives or win medals.
‘I often draw strength from meeting ordinary people doing extraordinary things: volunteers, carers, community organisers and good neighbours; unsung heroes whose quiet dedication makes them special.
‘They are an inspiration to those who know them.’
‘We often tell people to breathe when they need courage, but the word ‘inspire’ actually means to ‘breathe in’
On health
“If you have health, you have hope
and if you have hope, you have everything”
On being a leader
“When life seems hard, the courageous do not lie down and accept defeat; instead, they are all the more determined to struggle for a better future.”
“Over the years I have observed that some attributes of leadership are universal, and are often about finding ways of encouraging people to combine their efforts, their talents, their insights, their enthusiasm and their inspiration, to work together.”
“Even when your life seems most monotonous, what you do is always of real value — and importance to your fellow men.”
“It’s worth remembering that it is often the small steps, not the giant leaps, that bring about the most lasting change.”
